Front Calipers Finally Painted

I finally got around to painting the front calipers and rotors red so now the car looks good all the way around. I was wondering if I should paint the rotors too but did them anyways cuz the rust was bugging me. If I don’t like it down the line I can easily wire wheel the paint off.

front calipers painted

My next big task will be the paint job but i’m still looking for a front bumper so gotta wait till then. Once I get the custom bumper I can do a dry fit and then start preping the car for paint.

Baby Slider Turtles

My New Slider Turtles

On April 21, 2007 I bought 2 slider turtles one was a Red Eared Slider named Rocco and the other was a Yellow Belly Slider named Cocco. I had them in the tank with some really small feeder fish for about a week, but unfortunetly Rocco the smaller one ate one of those feeder fish and choked on it and died. So now weeks later I only have Cocco the Yellow bellow one. Cocco was getting bored being alone so I added some bigger fish into his tank and he already ate one and took a good chunk out of the tail of another one. Below are some pictures of my turtles.

Above is a picture of Rocco on the left and Cocco on the right,

chilling on a piece of driftwood. oh and thats there food below them not poop :) .

For now I decided to keep only one turtle and not to purchase anymore as this is my 3rd aquarium and room will become and issue as this little guy gets bigger.

Engine Managment and ECU Programming

I found a very informative link about programming your ECU and from what i got was that if your running a turbo or any kind of boost its better to program your ECU to work with it, instead your stock ECU working against it.

Here is another link to a guy that will add a chip to your OBD-1 ECU for $75.

Fuel Injector 101

Great link about the maximum HP you can run with your stock injectors RTR Performance.

So looking at this formula 92-95 Stock injectors are 240cc divided by 5 = 47HP per injector so 47HP multiplied 4 =188HP

Both the D16z6 and D15B7 have a stock flow rate of 235(cc/min). So they seem to be the same injector.

So the stock injectors are good for upto 192HP more or less, I would say if you running anything more then 170HP i would run better injectors just to make sure you have enough fuel flowing into your cylinder. These numbers are just a overall rating because it there are other factors to consider such as dirty, old or used up injectors which now would be working at less then maximum efficiency.

Here is a list for more Honda injector Flow rates Accordingly Done

Another great link for figuring out the proper injectors. RCENG

Women Can Be Fast Too

Bouncing around some forums I found a website about a chick that races a Honda CRX with a 1/4 mile time of 11.7sec at 129 mph. She has a B16B block and B16A head plus a wack of other crazy mods including a Turbonetics turbo. It’s called staciescrx and for a chick she does pretty good down the track.

Lowered And Ready To Ride

Wow what a weekend, I created the jig to force out the rusted bolt out of the rear lower suspension arm but no success. So I said enough and cut that arm off with a grinder and picked up a used one from a wrecker for a decent price. I got all new bolts and while assembling the rear suspension back up I made sure I greased the bolts up really well. I finished of the rear and adjusted the front again and by that time it was end of the day already.

lowered ride

Here is a picture of it lowered, it’s definately lower but not too crazy. So far driving it for 4 days now it handles so much better on corners, way less body roll but it is definately a stiffer ride so gotta watch out for those big pot holes.

From Rusted To Bling!

So while working to lower the car I looked at the rear drums and noticed they are really rusted and ugly. Being so rusted they defeat the point of having nice looking wheels because they kill the look.

rusted drum

So I bought some Hi-Temperture caliper/drum paint and new drums as they were really cheap and it wasn’t worth the time to wirewheel the old ones. I painted the rear drums red and man do they ever look good now the red drum and new wheels really compliment each other. And lets just say i’ve gotten more then a few people saying it makes the car look a lot better.

painted drum

Next task when I get a chance will be to paint the front calipers and part of the rotors.

Wrench'n and Breaking Bolts

So last weekend I figured hey why not swap out my current shocks and springs with the new shocks I got a while back and the Coilovers. I ripped into the front and had a problem with a couple bolts so I had to go out and get a 400 ft/lb impact gun and compressor. After a few hours of wrenching I managed to put it back together and I dropped the suspension 1″ and damn it looks good now. So I was like ok if the front took 2 hours the back should be easier cuz its only 1 bolt on the bottom and 2 nuts on top of the strut. After 6 hours I was still hacking away at it cuz I broke both the bolts for the shocks and no real progress removing the shocks from the car. Regular force wasn’t working so I took a quick ride to the hardware store and picked up a propane torch and finally managed to take off the right suspension arm off the car with the strut still attached. I took this lower arm with the strut still attached to work next day and managed to cut the strut off and pound the broken bolt out with a sledge hammer. Monday I got a grinder with a cut off disc and cut the strut off the left lower arm and ripped into the strut for parts. The following day I put together both the shocks and mounted up the right side to the car. Problem remaining is that stupid bolt is still stuck on the left lower arm as shown in the picture below.

Lower arm

I tried using a vise to sqeeze it out but no success, so my next project will be to create a jig that I can mount my bottle hydraulic jack into so I can use that to push the bolt out. Have to wait till the weekend to do that so till then I can paint my rear drums and do the rear brakes.
