Filstar XP4 Filter Review

Heavy Duty Turtle Filter

2 Months back I bought a Rena Filstar XP4 canister filter for my turtle tank. After 2 months of use I wanna say this filter does a great job, it filters the 45 gallon tank with 2 turtles which everyone knows poop like there was no tommorrow really well. The water is always clean and no odors. 1 Week ago I cleaned it out and I was surprised how easy it is to clean, and the 4 media baskets give lots of room for all sorts of media to suit any custom needs.

New Baby Platies

24 New Offspring

Thursday night I was hit with a surprise my pregnant platy female gave birth to 20 healthy baby fish. I quicky grabbed my net and started scooping them into the breeder container so they wouldn’t get eaten by there mother.

The mother still looks pregnant so I may have more babies coming, will have to wait and see.

114 Gallons of Fish Space!

My 5 Aquariums

It all started on Dec 26, 06, it was boxing day and I bought myself a 10 Gallon aquarium kit from Petcetra.I started with some neon tetras and some dwarf frogs. Well sure enought a month later I bought my 2nd aquarium a 20 gallon that I put a crayfish into it and some black mollies and red platies. Well 8 months later I have two 10 gallon breeders, 20 gallon frog tank, 29 gallon crayfish tank and a 45 gallon turtle tank.I have a good assortment of fish and aquatic life and man I love it’s always fun to watch each tank every night as things are always going on. Each tank is like it’s own ecco system totally different style and pace of life every single second of each day. Now you say why 5 fish tanks, well each one is setup to house different aquatic life, the 45 gallon has turtles, 29 gallon has a crayfish, 20 gallon has dwarf frogs and the two 10 gallons are for breeding fish.


45 Gallon Turtle Tank

The 45 gallon 1 yellow belly slider turtle named Cocco, 1 red ear slider named Rocco, 1 full size stripped angel fish, a 4″ pleco, 3 red fin sharks and 3 orange stripe tetras.


29 Gallon Crayfish Tank

The 29 gallon has has my crayfish named Homer, 1 full size angel fish, 2 platy sword fish, a 3″ pleco, 1 danio, and 1 molly.


20 Gallon Dwarf Frog and Guppy Tank

The 20 gallon has 6 dwarf frogs 5 male guppies, 4 female guppies, and a full size angel fish.


10 Gallon Breeder Tank #1

My first 10 gallon breeder has 3 red platies and one orange one, 2 are males and 2 are females.

Finally my 2nd 10 Gallon breeder has 3 mollies 2 female and 1 male and should have babies soon.
