I installed Windows Vista on my new PC last week and so far I have nothing bad to say about it, it’s a good OS. I was against it for a long time with all the bad publicity and things that people said about it, but after a first look at it and using it for a week it seems great. One of the big differences from Windows XP to Windows Vista is the addition of DirectX 10 in Vista. DirectX 10 has a huge graphical advantage to DirectX 9c with it’s it’s new driver model that features better rendering capabilities and the new Shader Model 4.

With all this technical mombojambo what does this mean to the average gamer?

It means never before seen graphcial brilliance at it’s best. Below are 2 images rendered in new Flight Simulator X with DirectX 9 and DirectX 10.  As you’ll notice the 2nd image with DirectX 10 rendering has very realistic photo like clouds and superb water reflections.
