I had to change my oil the other day, and couldn't get the filter off either. A mechanic friend told me a while back that the quickest way to get it off if you don't have the wrench is to simply stab the side of the filter with a screwdriver. It can get a little messy, but the screwdriver will add that extra needed leverage to break it loose. Awesome huh?
