Clownfish, Blue Tang and Puffer Fish

I was visiting the pet store a couple of times in the last month and recorded some interesting fish.

A salt water Clownfish, a Blue Tang and some freshwater Puffers. You’ll notice that the Blue Tang looks almost over exposed in the recording but honestly he was like that in real life. The light they were using in the aquarium was making the colors stand out so well it was amazing, he was almost too blue in color.

Then another day I was checking out some food for my turtles and I found a tank with some great looking Puffers. Check out the video below you’ll enjoy it, it’s short but sweet.

Don’t Freeze Your Fish

I did a water change and a tank cleaning on my 125 Gallon fish tank today and almost lost some fish. I use my XP4 filter to pump out my water and then a Python hose system and a water tap to feed the water back in, but unfortunately I only have cold water from my tap.

Well today when I was adding water back into the tank I was too busy cleaning the tank, and wasn’t watching the temperature of the water. Half way through adding the water I saw a few fish swimming sideways and bobbing off the bottom of tank. I was like crap I think I waited too long for a water change and the ammonia really did them in but some how I knew that wasn’t it.

Seconds later I was like oh wait whats the temperature of the water… I looked at my paste on temperature gauge and it was below 66 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s too cold for fish so I stopped the hose from adding anymore cold water and grabbed a bucket and started to add warm water into the tank.

After about half a dozen buckets of really warm water the temperature rose to about 70 degrees, this is still cold for fish but way warmer then before and my fish started to act a little better. after about 30 more minutes the heaters brought it up even closer to normal temps and all my fish went back to normal.

So lesson to be learned here is keep track of your water when adding it back during a water change. Some would say I am nuts to even drop it 2-5 degrees in my tank but the fish that I have in my tank have been there for over 1-3 years and I have never had any issues with water being a bit cold. But yes I will agree this was extreme even for me. So next time I do a water change I’ll be more cautious of the temperature.

Fish Tank Water Changed and Back into Warhammer 40K

Just writing up a quick post that I changed my water in my 125 gallon Turtle tank as my fish were swimming sideways last night so I knew I HAD to do it today.

I’ve been spending more time these days getting back into Warhammer 40 figurine painting and collecting so I created some pages about them on my blog. My main one that has some content and will be getting lots of love this weekend is my Space Wolves page. Space Wolves are a Chapter of the Space Marines in the Warhammer 40 Universe. So I decided to create a page and share what I know to people who are looking for good info. Check it out Click Here.

I even created some videos on this hobby and should have more coming soon.

Movies, Fish Tank and XP4 Filter Cleaning and New Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

The long weekend was very busy for me so I didn’t have time to write some new content so here’s some updates.

After seeing Grown Ups at the theater, the next day I rented Hot Tub Time Machine and then the following day I saw a horror called The Crazies. Hot Tub Time Machine was pretty funny and i give it a 7.5/10 and Crazies was decent so I rank it 6.5/10

On Monday I cleaned my LOOOOONG overdue xp4 filters which were embarrassingly very dirty. I replaced the Bio-Chem Zorb and floss pads in both filters but the bottom foam only in one filter that needed it. I also change some of the water in the tank as it was very dirty. I will watch my ammonia in the next few days toward the weekend and possibly change some more water if the ammonia gets too high.

I also upgraded my Phone from an iPhone 3G to a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 as I got a super deal from my cell phone carrier. Rogers also sent me one of those 3G Internet Rocket Sticks which I still need to test out. Soon as I have some time to play with both I’ll do a review on them.

Tonight I created a new D16Z6 Exhaust video on Youtube and added it to my right side column so check it out when you get a chance.

A New 10″ Fish Net From My Dad

I went to visit my dad at lunch today and got surprised by his wicked gift. He gave me a 10″ fish net, this will come in real handy when I have to move in the next 3 weeks. Perfect for catching my cichlids, bala sharks, pleco and angel fish. Thanks Dad! :D
