Yesterday after work I went to Big Al's aquarium store with my brother Paul and my dad and picked up 6 new platy fish for my aquariums. I bought 3 Tri-Color Platy and 3 Golden Mickey Mouse Platy. I put the Golden Mickey Mouse Platy in my 45 gallon tank and the Tri-Color Platy into my 29 gallon tank.

Always Be On The Lookup For Fish Babies

I cleaned my 45 Gallon XP3 filter yesterday and after taking out the media baskets I found 2 platy baby fish. I scooped them out with a net and put them into my breeder container, it floats in the 45 gallon so I can observe them there. I guess one of my platy fish had babies and these guys got sucked up and have been living inside the filter for days or maybe even weeks.
I cleaned the filter really quickly and then changed the charcoal and the polishing floss. The filter should be good till about end of August to mid September before it needs another cleaning. ... Read More

My Dad came over to my house today and checked out my fish tanks and gave me a few pointers on a couple things. Since he was over and I acquired a good amount of fish lately I decided to give him a bunch. I gave him one of my large plecos about 15 baby platies and 4 of my recent fish I got from Big Al's. I came home today and had a nice surpise my orange platy had new fry again. I estimate around 40-50 new fry(babies), 4 died in the first few hours but the rest seem to be doing good.

24 New Offspring
Thursday night I was hit with a surprise my pregnant platy female gave birth to 20 healthy baby fish. I quicky grabbed my net and started scooping them into the breeder container so they wouldn't get eaten by there mother.
