The weather was really nice today so my friend and I decided to wash our cars. We took out the hose, a bucket with hot water and soap, and the mighty sponge. I was washing and she was doing all the rinsing so the cars got washed pretty quick. It's amazing how dirty your car gets in the winter from all the salt, dirt and grim that's flying around from car to car. Now that my car is cleaner my wipers should work better too. I've washed my car at a public car wash before and no matter how well I wash it, I can never get it as good as I can at home with a sponge. ... Read More

Visibility is The Key
Posted On 05 Feb 2009 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Interior and Exterior.
I was driving home tonight after work and the rain started to fall. I turned on my wipers and all I got was smudge after smudge after smudge, my visibility was bad. Why was it bad you ask? Because my wipers are dirty and my windshield needs a wash. This is especially bad when you are driving in the dark and you get the glare of oncoming traffic on your windshield. My solution for this is to clean your wipers with isoprophenol alcohol and the windshield with Windex. This will help the situation for now and when you get a chance purchase some new wipers if their a few years old. ... Read More
Does Your Honda Civic Have Quarter Panel Rust?
Posted On 21 Dec 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Body and Paint, Great Resources.
Does your Honda Civic have quarter panel rust? Yeah I thought so... Most people know that a Honda Civic's weakest link is the integrity of the body. If you own a Civic that is 10-15 years or older and it's seen a few winters than it's bound to have some rust. You can patch it up for a year or two but that usually won't last so the best bet is to cut out the rusted panels and weld in new pieces.
I found this post about a guy who did some rust repair on his Honda Civic so I thought I would post it on my blog for my own future reference and for anyone else that might need this information. Click Here for the link. ... Read More
Another EG Honda Civic with a Body Kit

I found another EG Honda Civic on CarDomain.com with the same body kit I was aiming to get last summer. The car is painted gray and has shaved rear hatch lights and Lambo doors but still looks good with that front bumper.

Another Honda Civic Paint Scheme
Posted On 02 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint.
I was reading some posts on D-Series forums tonight and found this post about a guy who wondering what paint scheme he should use on his Honda Civic Hatch. This was the same question I had last summer and never came up with an answer, but looking at these images makes it easier to figure it out. Click Here for his forum post.
Out of all his ideas I found these three schemes to be the most interesting and possibly one that will be my future paint job.

1993 Honda Civic Window Molding Aged and Cracking
Posted On 25 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Body and Paint.
Don't you hate it when your outside window molding is all cracked and ugly. When you bought your Honda Civic Back in 1993 the molding was all black and nice, but over the years the sun and weather have deteriorated the plastic cover and now it's just a nuisance to looks at. Well there is an easy solution for this and only takes about 20-30 minutes to swap out a new one or a better condition one from a wrecker.
I was looking at Honda Tuning and found this great writeup on how to do this fix. Click Here for the link.
And just in case you want the part numbers of those molding pieces I put them below so you can order them right from Honda brand new.

1993 Honda Civic How To Bumper Swap or Removal
Posted On 16 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Body and Paint.
This is a 1993 Honda Civic How To bumper swap or removal for turbo installation.
Tools Needed: Philips Head screw Driver, 10mm Socket Wrench with Extension.
Step 1 Take a 10mm socket wrench and unscrew the 1 screw that is on the left and ridge side of the bumper just in front of the front wheels once you fold back the inner fender Depending if someone has changed the bumper already you might run into Phillips head screws instead of 10mm.
Step 2 Use the 10mm socket wrench and unscrew the two 10mm bolts that are underneath the bumper. Please use the included image for reference.
Step 3 Use a Philips head screw driver and unscrew the 5 Philips head screws that are located on top just in front of the hood latch, once you pop the hood. Once the all the screws are removed you should be able to just pull the bumper right off and replace it if needed. For reinstallation just follow the steps in reverse order.

Bumper Swap Pictures
Posted On 11 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint.
I've been working crazy hours this week so I haven't had time to write up a complete Bumper Swap How-to article, but I thought I would at least get up some pictures. As you can see the newer bumper from a 95 Civic has the fog light area painted the same color as the bumper where mine is just black. From what I've seen this was only done on the 94 and 95 models but I am not 100% sure. In all the bumpers were really easy to swap, with 2 screws by the wheels, 5 under the hood and 2 under neath the bumper. As soon as I get a chance I will post a complete How-To on the bumper swap but here are my pictures for now.
These are images of my 93 Civic with the old bumper on the left and the new bumper on the right. It might not be visible but my old bumper had dings in it from rocks but the new bumper has a fresh set of paint on it so my car looks better now. ... Read More
Bumper Swap Was a Success
Posted On 07 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint, Civic, Hatch.
The bumper and fender swap between the two Civic's was a success, it was quite easy and only a few tools were needed. I pulled the bumpers and fenders off by myself but got some help from a friend to put them all back on. The reason for this swap was that my bumper and fender in my 93 Civic was all dented from rocks but the 95 Civic had a new painted bumper and a fender with only 1 ding. I will post pictures tomorrow as I didn't get a chance to pull them off my camera yet. I also replaced the drivers side headlight on the 95 Civic because it had a hole in it and the inner reflective part was all rusting away. Check back tomorrow for some before and after pictures. ... The Weekend Is Here, Time to Get Some Work Done On My Civic
Posted On 05 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Body and Paint.
Well the Weekend is finally here and this weekend I am gonna attempt to swap my bumper and drivers side fender with the other Honda Civic that I have. My other 95 Civic is a lot more beat up all over but the bumper and drivers side fender are in better shape then my 93 so I figure I better swap them over before winter. I'll try to take picture along the way just in case others might want to know how to take off or change their Honda Civic's bumper and fenders. Keep checking on the site this weekend as I will try to post this up soon as I get a chance. ... Read More
OEM Style Fog Light Installation
Posted On 30 May 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Civic, Interior and Exterior, Lights, Maintenance and Do It Yourself.
I was looking thru some posts at D-Series.org and found a great writeup on the installation of OEM style fog lights. You can purchase these on the ebay for around $60 and they make your bumper look a little bit better if your not going to go with a body kit.
I found a place on the internet that sells both the Clear and Yellow versions of this kit. Here is the Link to the Do it Yourself Installation. ... Read More
Body Kit Update
Posted On 30 May 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint, Civic, Hatch.
I found a Honda Civic on Cardomain.com that has the same side skirts that I want to install on my Civic. The owner attached the side skirts to the car and then molded them right to the side of the body so they look like their part of the car not just pieces of plastic that are attached. This is exactly what I intend to do with mine so the car looks like it came like this from factory. The front bumper is slightly different then the Bomber one I want but that's ok, I like the look of mine better. The other thing about this hatch I like is the hood, it's carbon fiber and it's got a nice indentation in the middle, looks very sporty.
Below is the Civic with really nice side skirts and here is the Link to the owners page.

Possible Changes To The Body Kit Idea and Paint
Posted On 29 May 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint, Civic, Hatch.
So I've been thinking about the body kit for my 93 Civic and I think I am going to mix and match different pieces to make the kit look better.
I am going to use the Bomber Front Bumper , the CB Style Side Skirts , and the XN Style Rear Bumper .
As far as the paint is concerned, I am going to stick with the original red that my Civic came with because it should be easier to buy and paint. Doing this will eliminate the problem with the inner doors and under the hood being a different color so this will fit my car better.
Candy apple red is a really nice color but from what I've heard and read online it's an expensive paint job and tricky to do to make it look good. ... Read More
Upcoming Body Kit Style
Posted On 28 May 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint, Civic, Hatch.
My plan this summer for my 93 Civic is to get a body kit and paint it candy apple red. But before I do that I have to do some body work to get the dents out and fix any rust that might be hidden. The body kit that I am thinking of is available at 2 places, Extreme Dimensions and Rocketz.net. The Bomber 4 piece kit includes front bumper, 2 side skirts and a rear bumper. I am still debating whether or not to get the matching roof spoiler because I want to make the car look good not over done.
I found a Civic on CarDomain.com that has the same body kit already mounted and painted blue. Below is the image and here is the Link to the owners page.

It's a red thats very deep and distinct looking from other reds and if you add the extra clearcoats it looks really good. Below is a hot rod painted in Candy Apple Red and man does it look good.

New Bumper Or A Complete Body Kit
Posted On 26 Apr 2007 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Body and Paint.
So looking at the car I know for sure I want to do a brand new paint job to get rid of the dents and dings on the body and of course to cover my new fenders. So if I'm gonna paint the complete car I might as well get a new front bumper to make it look even better. Now depending on where I get it and how much it will cost I might just get a complete body kit to do the front and rear bumpers and both side skirts. Below are the sites that I found that have the style of body kit that I am looking for.

Fender Dry Fitting

I did the fender dry fitting last night and it seems to fit pretty well, now just need to paint it on the backside so i can mount it back on the car and get it ready for the final paint job.
As you can see it will add a great deal to the body overall look, almost make it look like the car is breathing thru the fenders. ... Read More
