Back 15, 20 or even 30 years ago I believe that a lot more people were creative as things needed to last longer. But these days it seems that the life span of most electronics or even hobby like items only last a few months or years before they have new replacements. So instead of creating, drawing or fabricating these custom toys or gadgets we just buy quick mock ups and then find ourselves buying the replacements months later for newer models.
But the hope is not lost as there are still a lot of "OLD SKOOL" people out there that are very talented and creative. So hopefully these old timers pass down their knowledge and tricks of the trade for the next generation of creative and talented individuals.
Now most people have computers in their homes by now and might even have 2 or 3 but we buy them and that's it, not many go ahead and actually modify them. Well I found this one forum post about a computer case that will just stun the crap out of you, as it looks so awesome and is totally custom made. New Gaming PC Ordered For WarHammer Online
Posted On 25 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: PC Hardware.
My current PC is over 4 years old now and the only upgrade that I did to keep it up to date was upgrading the video card. I went from a Geforce 6600GT 256MB to a Geforce 7800GT 512MB besides that it did a great job at playing World of Warcraft for 4 years.
Well all things age and 4 years is actually a good lifetime for a PC as most die or are too slow to do anything after a few years so I decided to get a whole new system. I ordered parts today and if they come in I should be able to get it built and installed by the time I hit the sack tonight.
The biggest reason that I did decide to order a new system was that while playing WarHammer Online it was really choppy even after getting a new video card on the weekend. I purchased an EVGA Geforce GTX260 with 896MB of RAM on Saturday and thought that this would help and it did but not enough to make it playable at 1900x1200 resolution. My old 3.0GHZ P4 doesn't have enough power to push the video card to it's limits so the GTX260's ... Read More
DVI Cable For The Win

I went to A-Power today at lunch and picked up a 15' DVI Male to Male cable for my new 24" LCD Monitor and it made a significant difference in screen clarity. Since DVI is digital and faster then the old analog VGA, the screen refreshes faster and there is less interference. The picture is now a lot more clear and the refresh rate is prefect for playing movies or games. So if you get yourself an LCD monitor that has a DVI input make sure you get the proper DVI cable so you get the best picture quality from your monitor. ... Read More
My New LG 24" LCD Monitor
Posted On 04 Sep 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: PC Hardware.
I've been looking at getting an LCD monitor for a few years now and recently was thinking about a 22" or maybe a 24" but the prices were still pretty high. But last weekend I was looking at some flyer's and found a great deal for a 25.5" Acer LCD Monitor for $349 at Best Buy. I pondered about getting it for a few days but yesterday I decided to get it. I was all hyped up about the Acer, but when I got to the monitor isle at Best Buy they also had an LG 24" for the same price of $349.
I instructed the Best Buy salesperson to hookup the LG to a computer so I could see the picture quality and I was amazed how bright it was. There was another 24" Acer beside the LG so I compared the two monitors and the LG was definitely better. It looked better on the outside with a nice black gloss trim and more importantly color output was very rich and bright. So decided to take the LG 24" as it was a better choice for me.
The 24" LG LCD has better Contrast Ratio of 10000:1, same resolution of 1900x1200 and a 5ms response ... Read More
