Engine Bottom End Parts and Info
All you need to know to install vitara pistons, Click Here
Block - Cleaned, Bored out to .20 (75.5mm Pistons) .0035 p2w(Piston to wall) for Vitara Pistons
What piston to wall clearances should i run with vitara pistons?
Usually it depends on your Power goals. The pistons expand when they get to operating temperature.
The more power you are aiming for the bigger the piston to wall clearance should be.
If you use standard bore Vitaras your pistons might be a bit on the loose side but it is not a bad thing if youre aiming for ove 400whp.
If youre using 75.5mm Vitaras and your power goals are between 250-350whp a good P2W clearance is between .003 and .0035.
For 350-400whp---> .0035 to .004
For 400whp or more---> .004 to .0045
Oil Pump - Run a stock D16Z6 oil pump it works the best even with turbo.
Oil Filter - Use the S2000 oil filter, and fill it 50% before screwing it on to the engine to make sure it is already primed.
Pistons -75.5 to 76mm Vitara Pistons 8.4:1 Compression Ratio with I-Beam rods
Sleaves and Journals - Might Need to be Notched
Drive Pulley - Stock works the best with no problems

SuperTank Reflections
Posted On 17 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Crayfish, Featured.
Here is a picture I took of my crayfish SuperTank when he was sitting on top of a floating plant in my 45 gallon aquarium. The reflection looked really cool so I decided to take a picture.
He seems to be doing very well after his last molting session and has eaten a few of my fish which is expected of such a smart crayfish. At times I catch him trying to crawl up the eater tube or climbing the ornaments in the aquarium then positioning his back toward the top and suddenly jolting up to the top of the aquarium. He has quite the personality and always fun to watch. ... Read More
D16Z6 Engine Pictures Before Dissasembly
Posted On 16 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, D16.
These are my first images of my D16Z6 engine, and as you can see it looks very stock right now. There are a couple sensors that are broken and plugs that are bent, but all in all the engine looks to be in good shape. It did not come with a distributor or a crank pulley but for now I don't need those. I still do have my old D15B7 engine so if needed I can use my crank pulley from that engine, as I believe it's the same on the 1.5 and 1.6 liter. But I am not 100% sure so I will have to double check this first.
Here are some images of the black valve cover and the VTEC valve train.
Here are 2 more images of the front and back of the engine with the distributor and the crank pulley missing. ... Read More

I put the Golden Mickey Mouse Platy in my 45 gallon tank and the Tri-Color Platy into my 29 gallon tank.

D16Z6 Turbo Build Has Begun
Posted On 15 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Turbo.
My D16Z6 turbo build has officially begun as I picked up a D16Z6 engine from the wrecker today. I'm really excited to get this project underway as I've been wanting to add a turbo to my Honda Civic since the day I got it. I don't have a picture yet but soon as I get a chance I will snap some shots and post them up on the blog. It's a complete engine consisting of the block, head, intake and exhaust. I will have to dissemble it, send it out for machining, add some performance parts and then put it all back together.
Once the engine is done I can start focusing on acquiring the Hondata 300 ECU piggy back, GlowShift Gauges and Turbo kit. So stay tuned as this build should get exciting. ... Read More

Test Tear Down of D15B2 Honda Engine
Posted On 10 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: D Series Engine, D15.
Last year I picked up a bad D15 Honda engine that I was going to use for tear down experience, so this weekend I pulled out the tools and started to tear it down. By end of Sunday night I had it all apart and pulled the crank and pistons. The experience was great and will help for when I start tearing into my D16Z6 Turbo build engine. There is a sequence of taking things apart and if you figure that out early it makes things easier the next time. I took some pictures of the engine and posted them below. As you can tell the engine was in bad shape with lots of water damage and rust.
1. Here you can see the block with the head pulled off.
2. This cylinder had major rust all over.
3. This image shows the bottom end of the engine including the oil pump pickup.
4. Oil pump is pulled out and is visible on the block.
5. Crankshaft is out and connecting rods are visible as well as bottoms of pistons.
6. Crankshaft out of D15B2 Honda engine. ... Read More

The Twin Honda Civic Hatchback Has Been Sold
Posted On 08 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Civic, Hatch.
As the title says my 2nd hatchback has been sold and part of the proceeds will go to my Turbo Build Fund. It was fun owning two hatchbacks at once but currently I don't need the 2nd one so it was sold and now I can focus on picking up a D16Z6 1.6 VTEC block and start working on it. I estimate this to be a 6-8 month build just in time for next years drag races at mission and should perform quite good with my projected 250 to 300hp. ... Read More
Rear Brake Squealing and Scuffing Sound is Gone Now
Posted On 06 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Brakes.
The last 2 weeks I've been hearing a squealing and scuffing sound coming from my rear drum brakes so I was getting concerned. On the weekend it turned into a grind so I decided to park my 1993 Honda Civic till I figured out what it was. I was worried that I some how used up my rear brake shoes faster then normally possible. So today after work it wasn't raining I decided to take a closer look.
I jacked up the car and pulled off the wheels and drums and inspected the brake shoe lining and the rest of the brake assembly. The brake shoe linings' were in really good shape but I did notice that the bottom part of the shoes looked like they were scuffed up with something. I then checked the drum for any irregularities and smoothness on the inner braking surface but I did not find anything out of the ordinary. I was a bit confused for a second on what would of made these scuffing marks on the shoes, but then discovered this was caused by excess brake dust.
Because the rear brake assembly is basically closed off, there is very little place for the dust to go so it starts to attach it self to the brake assembly. It is trapped inside the drum ... Read More
Gearing up for my Boosted D16Z6 in Spring 2009
Posted On 05 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Turbo.
Launching this site over a 1.5 years ago there was two main things I wanted to focus on. One was the installation of a VTEC engine into my 1993 Honda Civic and the other was the installation of a turbo. Now I've done a write up of the engine swap that I did last winter but I've been lacking on solid turbo support from my own experience. On this blog I have posted a few turbo installations done by other Honda Civic enthusiasts but now it's my turn to show what I can do. I will be honest, I have never owned or installed a turbo into a Honda Civic but I sure intend too this spring.
My intention is to have a built up D16Z6 engine with a turbo installed in my Honda Civic by late Spring or early Summer 2009. My goal for horse power is around 250 to 300HP with a properly built block and good tuning. This is not an impossible goal to reach as a lot of other Honda Civic enthusiasts have reached far more then 500HP and beyond. This is going to be a good learning experience as I have never done any internal engine modifications to add horse power in the past. I will try to post as many images and write as much information as I can, ... Read More

Farewell Mortimer "Munch" Klein Rest in Peace
Posted On 03 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: Family Dogs.
This past weekend was a sad one as my sister's dog Mortimer Munch Klein died on Sunday morning at 1:31am at the Vet. He was a sharpei and was born on August 1st 2005. He was having seizures for the past few years and my sister and her husband did what they could to find out why, but unfortunately the vets failed them. Mortimer is leaving his adopted sister Peeka who is also a sharpei and I know she will miss him dearly. I have chosen to write this post to make sure Mortimers' memory continues on and will never be forgotten just as the former family dog Ceazer. Agata do not worry as I am sure that Ceazer and Mortimer will find each other in doggy heaven, and will keep each other company.
Rest in Peace Mortimer Munch Klein

Another Honda Civic Paint Scheme
Posted On 02 Nov 2008 By Bart Piotrowski. Under: 1993 Honda Civic Project, Body and Paint.
I was reading some posts on D-Series forums tonight and found this post about a guy who wondering what paint scheme he should use on his Honda Civic Hatch. This was the same question I had last summer and never came up with an answer, but looking at these images makes it easier to figure it out. Click Here for his forum post.
Out of all his ideas I found these three schemes to be the most interesting and possibly one that will be my future paint job.
