Picking the right turbo kit can be a challenge specially if your on a budget. There are a lot of eBay turbo kits floating around for less then $1000 bucks, which makes them really appealing to the uneducated backyard mechanic. I once was really eager to get one of those kits for my Honda Civic but after extensive research I will now think twice before purchasing one. They seem to be a good bargain because they include what you need but the workmanship doesn’t do justice. I found a comparison on D-series.org forums that shows the flaws of the cheaper eBay turbo kit compared to the well respected Go-Autoworks brand.

Go-Autoworks the better choice for turbo kits.
I found some great links on people that installed their own custom made turbos, this is great information when putting mine together. These are just 4 setups that I found on D-Series Forums today, but there are lots of others out there. Take a look they have lots of information.

Since my drag down the Mission Raceway and the hunger for a faster 1/4 mile time, I started to do lots of research on turbo’s and how all the pieces come together. Well last night my friend Tracey came with me to wash my Civic since I haven’t washed it in a few weeks. After it was clean I took it for a drive to dry off and ended up at 7-Eleven. I told her that I would buy her a Slurpee for helping me wash my car, so she went down the slurpee aisle and I headed down to the magazines.
I flipped thru a bunch of magazines then suddenly one just popped out at me, the Super Street magazine. Super Street magazine has an issue out right now that has a great writeup on how turbos work and what you need to get the whole package running. This is exactly what I was looking for as in the next few weeks I will do some research and write up some posts on how a I can integrate a turbo into my Civic.
I found a great thread about a dad who help his son install an ebay turbo in his Honda Civic. Click Here for more info.
